Assessment

Sensory assessment

A sensory assessment uses standardised, play-based tasks and questionnaires to look at how a child's brain organises sensory information to plan and carry out movement.

What does it look at?

Praxis

Planning and carrying out new movements, such as copying postures or sequencing actions.

Vestibular & postural

Balance, posture and how the body stays steady against gravity.

Somatosensory

Making sense of touch and body position, for example finding shapes by feel.

Visual perception

Understanding what is seen, including spatial relationships and visual-motor tasks.

Bilateral & sequencing

Using both sides of the body together and in order.

What to expect

  1. 1. Chat. We talk with you about your child's strengths and challenges.
  2. 2. Play-based tasks. Your child completes short, game-like activities with the therapist.
  3. 3. Scoring and report. Results are scored and explained in a written report.
  4. 4. Feedback. We go through the findings and recommended next steps together.

Tip: bring a drink, a snack and comfortable clothes. Session length and fees are confirmed when we reply to your booking request.
